Meet one of the most elegant locals of the Okanagan — the great blue heron. This one is on a 60”x48” canvas and created with heavy body paints.
This painting captures the quiet intensity and striking beauty of a heron on the edge of the water, blending textured strokes with that unmistakable calm-before-the-strike stillness. I’m lucky to see these birds all the time in the Okanagan — silently fishing in the reeds, flying low over the lake, or just standing like statues along the shoreline.
They’ve always had this almost prehistoric, wise energy to them. Painting one in my signature textured style just felt right. You’ll find little bits of the Okanagan woven into the background too — rust and teal tones that echo our sun-drenched reeds and glacial waters.
