There’s something powerful about taking a small, often overlooked creature and giving it a monumental presence. In this piece, I brought a grasshopper to life on a large canvas using bold palette knife work and heavy texture throughout. Every stroke is intentional, building layers of movement, depth, and energy.
The vibrant greens, fiery oranges, and deep purples create a dynamic contrast against the textured white background, where subtle markings and splashes add a contemporary edge. Finished with a high-gloss clear coat, the surface catches the light beautifully, enhancing the dimension and making the colours feel even more alive.
This painting is a celebration of scale, texture, and perspective — a reminder that even the smallest subjects can command attention when given the space to do so.
