30” x 40” | Original Palette Knife Painting | Two-Part Epoxy Finish
This wolf was a bit of an experiment for me. I painted it in my usual palette knife style, building up all the rough texture and bold marks, then tried something I’ve never done before — covering the finished painting in a layer of two-part epoxy.
The epoxy completely changes the way the piece feels. It locks all that texture underneath a smooth, glass-like surface, while giving the teals, rusty oranges, whites and blacks an incredible depth and richness. Depending on the light and where you’re standing, different marks and layers seem to come forward.
I love the contrast between the wild, messy energy of the palette knife work and the clean glossy surface over top. It’s definitely something different for me, and the first piece I’ve ever created this way.
